Day 15- Put your iPod on shuffle: First 10 songs that play

I must admit something now. Promise not to make fun of me.

I do not own an ipod.

Music is not a major part of my world. Sure, I can hum along to a good song once in awhile, but it’s not a necessity. I do not have to have the radio on in the car. I do not insist that we have music playing at dinner. Even when working out, I’d rather watch tv (this is not meant to imply that I work out with any regularity whatsoever). It just doesn’t matter to me. I make my own music.

However, The Agent does have an ipod. I could tell you the first 10 songs that played, but then you would have an eclectic mix of ac/dc, Bare Naked Ladies, Hank Williams, Jr., and Enya.

Oh, what the heck. Let’s play shuffle with The Agent’s ipod.

1. Ballroom Blitz-- Sweet
2. Feel Good Inc-- Gorillaz
3. More Than a Woman- Bee Gees
4. On the Road Again-- Canned Heat
5. Viva la Vida-- Coldplay
6. Sex and Candy-- Marcy Playground
7. Dang Me-- Roger Miller
8. Pilgrim-- Enya
9. I Like it, I Love it-- Tim McGraw
10. Limbo Rock-- Chubby Checker

Ok, I know the majority of these songs. And I would sing along with half of them.

The Agent’s probably not the only one with eclectic taste in music.

Are any of these songs on your playlist? Do any of them bring back special memories?

Day 14- A picture of you and your family

Photobucket

The Agent: My husband
Lovely: That's me
Lucky: My stepbrother
Alice: My stepmother
Dad: My dad (also named Lucky)
BK: My son (whose middle name is also Lucky)
Abuelita: Alice's mother
Bug: My daughter
Abuelito: Alice's father (you guessed it-- his name is also Lucky)

So, this is my family, the people who come to all the events. This picture was taken last May when BK's adoption was finalized, but I see them often (4th of July, Bug's graduation, and BK's birthday are the events we saw them at in the last month). They're all crazy. I'll have to write a post about each one.

Day 13- A letter to someone who has hurt you recently

Dear Mom,

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile, ever since you came over for BK’s birthday and I invited you to come to Bug’s preschool graduation. You said you would come. I told you you could come to the house first and we’d drive to the church together, so you wouldn’t get lost. You said you were excited to see her. You were all set to go… until I mentioned that Dad and his wife would be there, too. Then you never said another word about it.

And you didn’t show up.

I get it. He hurt you. He left you for another woman. But it’s not like it was yesterday. It’s been 18 years. In one more year, you will be divorced for longer than you were together. I’m sure it’s awkward, but you would think that you’d be able to be able to suck it up long enough to be able to see your oldest grandchild graduate from pre-school.

See, this is why I don’t invite you to stuff. The ballet recitals, the birthday parties… I would rather not invite you and have it look like I’m playing favorites between you and Dad, than to invite you and have you not show up.

It’s ok. I knew you weren’t going to come. I saw it on your face as soon as I said her name. But the fact that you couldn’t tell me, that I had to call on the day of the graduation and make you say it, that’s what hurts.

And don’t worry, Bug didn’t even notice. She was happy with the family members that were there. She’s used to you not being around.

Until the next time,
Lovely

Day 06- Favorite super hero and why

Lara Croft. She’s awesome. She kicks serious butt. And, per The Agent she kinda looks like me.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t know a whole lot about the Tomb Raider. I was never able to get very far in the video games, and I don’t think I’ve even seen the movies all the way through.

Oh, wait. The Agent has just informed me that I also look quite a bit like Wonder Woman. She’s not as cool, but I love her invisible jet.

This was a hard one for me, can you tell? Who is your favorite superhero? Maybe your answers will inspire me!

Day 05- A picture of somewhere you’ve been to

A couple weeks ago, we went to  Daffodil Hill.

Photobucket

Daffodil Hill is a 4-acre farm in the foothills with an estimated 300,000 daffodils, in 300 varieties (all of which look pretty much the same).

Photobucket

The weather was perfect, the daffodils were in full bloom, the kids had a blast, and The Agent and I enjoyed walking through the flowers.

Photobucket

We had one moment of drama when BK decided to make a break for it and run down the hill through the flowers, until he fell and rolled down the bottom half of the hill. Luckily, no flowers were crushed during this escapade, and I was able to capture BK before we were caught and thrown out!

Day 04- A habit that you wish you didn’t have

I have many bad habits.

Every time I set down a knife-- I mean EVERY TIME-- I set it down with the blade up, like this:

Photobucket

I don’t even know how I do this. It’s not like I do it on purpose. It just happens.

I abuse my fingernails to no end. I don’t chew on them, but I pick at them. Pick, pick, pick.

These are my hands:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Look at my gross nails. Try to ignore my old lady hands.

But I think my worse habit is my love affair with my scale.

I weigh myself twice a day, everyday. The first weigh-in is when I first wake up. I go to the bathroom, turn on the shower, and step on the scale while I’m waiting for the water to get hot. If it’s less than the day before, I am satisfied. If it is more than the day before, I fall into a deep depression. My day is shot before it even begins.

My second weigh-in is the last thing I do before I go to bed. I get undressed, and then step on the scale. I usually weigh roughly two pounds more than I do in the morning. If there’s less than a 2 pound gain, I call the day a success. If it’s more than two pounds, I declare myself a fat ass and make the Agent turn off the lights so he can’t see my fat rolls.

Don’t act surprised. I think I’ve already made it clear in the past that I have issues.

I wish I wasn’t this way. Don’t you think I wish that? I wish the scale didn’t define me. I wish I was comfortable in my own skin. I wish I could look in the mirror and see a beautiful woman.

But, more than anything, I wish I could lose 20 more pounds.

Day 03- A picture of you and your friends

Here’s me and two of my closest homies (taken Feb 27th):

Photobucket

I’m the one in the middle. I always hate taking pictures with them because they’re both so beautiful and I feel like the token ugly friend. “RAH! I’m going to eat you! Run for your lives!”

Yes, I have self esteem issues.

Day 02- The meaning behind your Blog name

It’s no secret that this is my second blog. My first blog was read by too many people who I knew in real life, so I had to start over, a bit more anonymously, and I had to think of a completely different name. It was much harder than I thought it would be, because I didn’t put much thought into the name of my first blog, and I didn’t realize until later that your blog name is pretty important.

I had an advantage with this blog because I had about a week to plan everything out before it was actually made public. During that time, I made new twitter and email accounts, thought of names for my husband and kids, added my blog list, made a blog button, and came up with a name. I knew I wanted something catchy, and something relatively easy to remember. I am fan of alliterations, so that played a part, as well.

Before I met The Agent, I was always looking for something in my life. I thought it was luck, I thought it was love, but now that I have both, I learned that I really needed to find myself, which is why I write.

Throughout my life, I’ve been looking for luck, love, and…. Myself.

Get it? I don’t know, I thought it was kinda cute.

30 days of me

So, I got this idea somewhere else. I’m sorry, I can’t remember where I found it, and now I can’t refind it, so I can’t give proper credit. If this was your idea, send me an email and I’ll link to you!

Anyway, the idea is that for every day of the month, you write something about yourself. Cool, right? And you all know how much I love talking about myself, so this was right up my alley.  But here’s the thing: I don’t like to blog more than once a day, and there’s so many other things that I like to write about, so I really can’t write about myself every single day for a month. So, I decided to do it once a week instead. Not sure if it’ll stay on Tuesdays… maybe I’ll move to the weekend? To be determined.

Here are all 30 days, in case you want to do your own!

Now here's Day 01- A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is me (taken Feb 6th)

Photobucket

15 interesting facts:

1. I am left handed.
2. I am a published writer (somewhere, in a dusty poetry anthology, is a sonnet called “The Dream.” That’s me. Good luck finding it).
3. I have a fear of bridges, specifically long bridges over bodies of water.
4. I am married with two kids. Bug is ours by birth, BK is ours through adoption.
5. My world is a better place with Diet Dr. Pepper in it.
6.  Some of my favorite books: The Shining, Wuthering Heights, The Notebook, and The Little House Books
7. Some of my favorite tv shows: Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Office, The Walking Dead, Modern Family, The Bachelor
8. I am not a very social person-- not because I’m not friendly, but because I’m too lazy to clean the house.
9. Cats rule and dogs drool.
10. I played the clarinet starting in the 5th grade until I was a sophomore in high school.
11. I didn’t kiss a guy until I was 17.
12. I wasn’t allowed to wear red when I was child because my father didn’t like the color. And then I went and married a guy who also hates red. We have nothing red in our house or in our wardrobes. We are a very strange family.
13. My degree is in English. I went to school to be a high school English teacher. One semester was enough for me to realize that wasn’t the job for me.
14. I was on the swim team in high school. I was ok. I was also on the waterpolo team. We were not good at all. Our team won one game my senior year, against a team who didn’t have a pool. We thought we were so cool.
15. It is incredibly hard to think of 15 interesting things that I haven’t already told you guys.
